When we took over the “Hietzinger Bräu” a few decades ago, we heralded the renaissance of the simple cuisine in Austria. We have made a point of offering you the most non-cosmetic and authentic line of cooking possible. We gladly refrain from following the latest gastronomic trends and focus instead on tradition at its best.

Ewald Plachutta:
A chef with joy and passion for the exquisite

His culinary expertise is appreciated far beyond Austrian borders; he has been the top ambassador for the unique Vienna cuisine: Ewald Plachutta satisfies gourmets in Hong Kong, Barcelona, Hamburg and Zurich. Gault-Millau named him Chef of the Year in 1991 and awarded him three toques in 1992. In the same year A la Carte Austria awarded him with the “Gourmet Trophy”. In 1993, Ewald Plachutta celebrated his first Michelin Star. A number of other awards pay tribute to an extraordinary career. 2003 marked the current pinnacle of success when he was awarded the Golden Honorary Medal of the City of Vienna. With some 700.000 books sold Ewald Plachutta is perhaps Austria’s most successful author of cookery books.
